Get a Library Card...
Library cards are free to all residents of Windsor Locks. All you need is a picture ID and proof of address. You can also apply for a temporary library card. For more details, visit our library card registration page.

Find a Good Book to Read...
Our staff is happy to find and recommend books to fit everone's taste. To find award winners and book lists and to explore a whole world of reading possibilities, visit Book Lists & Reviews. We also offer Readers' Advisory Lists in many different genres, including brochures that you can take home.

Borrow and Return Library Materials...
Everything you need to know about our circulation policies (loan periods, fines, etc.) can be found on our Loan Periods & Fines page. You may use your Windsor Locks library card to borrow from any public library in the state. Have your card with you! Materials can be returned to any public library in the state. We do ask that you make every effort to return materials to the library from which you borrowed them so they can get back into circulation quickly rather than being tied up in our inter-library delivery system.

Renew Materials...
With the exception of museum passes, DVDs, and items on hold for other people, all of our materials can be renewed through Encore, our online catalog by accessing your library account. You can also call us or stop in and we can renew your materials. We currently allow just one renewal per item, for a total of 6 weeks.

Pay Fines and Lost Fees by Credit Card...
In the library we can accept cash or check as payment for accrued fines or lost items. If you prefer to use a credit card you can easily pay online. Simply log in to your library account through Encore, our online catalog by typing in your last name and library card number, then look for the link for your charges on the list at the left side of the page. When you click PAY you will be prompted to enter your credit card number (VISA, Mastercard, or Discover). When the transaction is completed the charges will automatically be removed from you library record. NOTE: This payment option may not work on mobile devices.

Get Email Notifications...
Email notifications are available for items almost due, overdue, and billed materials. Just call or stop in and ask to add your email address to your library account. You can also log in to your library account in Encore, our online catalog, and add or update your email address. It's as simple as that!

We also maintain an email list for general information (never more than 2 emails per month) and links to our blog, Books Are Just the Beginning..., programs calendar, and more. We are proud to offer 3 different platforms for Windsor Locks card holders to access downloadable books: Overdrive (eBooks and audio), OneClickDigital (eBooks and audio), and Freading (eBooks). Downoad a book today!

Borrow a Museum Pass...

Reserve the Community Room...
The Community Room is available for local educational and community services groups or for rental to other groups. To reserve the Community Room, please contact Gloria Malec at 860-627-1495. For more information, visit Community Room & Facilities.

Access the Internet...
The Windsor Locks Library offers 8 public Internet accessible computers that require a library card for access. Sessions are limited to 90 minutes per day. Guest passes are available for out-of-state guests and first-time nonresident users. Secure WiFi is also available. Please ask for the password at the cirulation desk. All Internet users are expected to adhere to the library's Internet Policy.
